PRESENTATION

The ISEP library is a specialised academic library with open access, which allows all access, which allows all users to freely consult existing documents.

It is responsible for providing information to the academic community in support of teaching, learning and research. Its priority objectives are the processing, organisation, dissemination and preservation of the document collection, meeting the needs of its users.

 

ISEP LIBRARY USERS

The ISEP Library can be used by ISEP students, teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as students, teaching and non-teaching staff from all IPP schools and the general public.

 

USER RIGHTS

" Requesting information about the Library's services and regulations.

" Requesting to consult the collections and borrowing books, in accordance with the rules laid down in these regulations.

" Consulting existing databases.

" Making suggestions or complaints, using the appropriate forms available at the service desk.

 

USERS' OBLIGATIONS

IT IS THE OBLIGATION OF USERS TO FULLY COMPLY WITH THE LIBRARY REGULATIONS, IN ALL ASPECTS THAT DEPEND ON THEM, NAMELY:

" Adopting a civic demeanour towards other users and library staff, in all situations.

" Respecting the integrity of the bibliographic and documentary collections.

" Returning borrowed items on time.

" Respecting the integrity of the facilities and equipment, avoiding any damage to them.

" Complying with the rules for using the reading and study rooms.

" Placing the monographs consulted in person on the trolley.

" Respecting others by not talking loudly or using mobile phones.

" To enter the reading room on the first floor, users must leave their briefcases, rucksacks or similar in the lockers.

 

SERVICES PROVIDED

 

TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC:

" In-person consultation of the Library's document collection;

" Access to the online catalogue: www.isep.ipp.pt/biblioteca

 

TO REGISTERED USERS:

 

"ON-SITE READING

On-site reading takes place exclusively in the reading rooms.

 

" HOME LENDING

All publications can be borrowed for home reading, except for

Reference works (dictionaries, encyclopaedias), as well as works that are

marked with a yellow dot on the spine. Lending for home reading is for a period of 10 working days, renewable if there is no reservation for the publication.

 

" INTERLIBRARY LENDING

Whenever students need to consult scientific articles or monographs

that exist in other libraries, they can make the request by sending an

an email to the Library, biblioteca@isep.ipp.pt . The lending conditions and terms

are those imposed by the lending library. If there are any costs are borne by the borrower.

 

" INFORMATION AND REFERENCE SERVICE

General information, bibliographic research and support for searches in

databases or other information resources.

 

" RESERVING PUBLICATIONS

Whenever a publication to be requested is out of the library, the reader can make a reservation and must pick up the publication on the day indicated in the reservation.

 

RULES OF CONDUCT

 

1. The Library is a place for study and research, so it should be quiet and users should not make noise or disturb other users.

2. Mobile phones should be set to silent mode or switched off.

3. No group work is allowed in the rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors.

4. You may not change the layout of the furniture, smoke, eat or drink.

5. Users are advised not to leave their personal belongings on the study room tables or use them to reserve a seat while they are away from the library. The Library cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage.

6. Users must leave their briefcases, rucksacks and the like in the lockers and take responsibility for the key given to them whenever they want to use the 2nd floor reading room or access the bookshelves.

7. Users are expected to behave in a way that respects the principles of civility and politeness, both towards library staff and other users.

8. If a user clearly fails to respect one or more rules of behaviour, any library staff member may request identification and/or ask the offender to leave the library premises.
