Hendrikus Nouws |
Dr. Hendrikus (Henri) Nouws is AGRIMA's coordinator, has a PhD degree in Chemistry, and is an Associate Professor at the Chemical Engineering Department of the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (ISEP), Polytechnic of Porto. He develops his research activities in the research group "Grupo de Reação e Análises Químicas” (GRAQ) and mainly focuses on the development of sensors and biosensors for pharmaceutical, clinical, and food analysis, environmental sciences, pollutant monitoring, disease diagnosis, food safety, nanotechnology, consumer protection, and green technologies. |

Dr. Cristina Delerue-Matos has a PhD degree and a Habilitation in Chemistry from Minho University (Portugal). She is Full Professor at the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (ISEP) and the vice-president for research of IPP. She is the Coordinator of the Environmental Chemistry research group of REQUIMTE/LAQV and of GRAQ since 2001. Her scientific expertise allowed dealing with “Green Chemistry – Clean Technologies and Processes” with a wide range of tools and from different perspectives. She was the coordinator of numerous (inter)national research projects. |

Cristina Soares |
Dr. Cristina Soares has a PhD degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences and is an Auxiliary Researcher at GRAQ. She participated in research projects, ranging from developing analytical methods for food contaminants to creating silica nanoparticles for drug delivery and extracting neuroprotective compounds from seaweeds, consistently emphasizing the sustainable use of bioresources. She also was involved in projects led by industrial stakeholders, each focusing on the sustainable use of bioresources: production of natural-based cosmetics, enhancing canned fish products with seaweed, and using advanced techniques to treat wastewater. |

Dr. Manuela Moreira has a PhD degree in Sustainable Chemistry and is an Auxiliary Researcher at GRAQ. She is an expert in the sustainable valorization of agro-food wastes. Her research is addressed to the development of environmentally friendly extraction of bioactive compounds from different by-products, as well as the development of value-added products from by-products and subsequent application in the food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. She has also been working in the production of biochars from agroforestry wastes for application in wastewater treatment, as well as a sustainable remediation strategy for burned soils. |

El Hassan Ajandouz |
Dr. El Hassan Ajandouz is an Assistant Professor at AMU. His research covers the fields of fundamental and applied enzymology, metabolism, nutrition, and food science and safety. He is Head of the Food Quality and Safety Master’s degree, and his teachings, both in this Master's program and in the AMU Bachelor's program in Life Sciences, is focused on his research areas. |

Dr. Marc Maresca is Researcher at AMU. He received his PhD in Biochemistry at the Université Paul Cézanne (France, 2003) working on food contaminants (mycotoxins). He is currently working at the Institut des Sciences Moléculaires de Marseille (iSm2 / UMR-AMU-CNRS 7313) and his research aims to identify and develop new molecules – natural (including from food wastes), synthetic, or bio-inspired – with therapeutic values, including antimicrobial, anticancer, and anti-inflammatory activity. |

Viviane Robert |
Dr. Viviane Robert has been a Lecturer at AMU (iSm2 / BioCiences, UMR CNRS 7313) for several years. She conducts research in biochemistry and is particularly interested in hybrid biocatalysts. Her work focuses in particular on the development of modified metalloenzymes for enantioselective reactions involved in lignan biosynthesis. Since 2022 she has focused on assessing the health risk associated with exposure to aflatoxins in food. She is responsible for the Master 1 QSA program, Quality and Safety in the Food Industry. |

Ana Chambel is an agronomist and works in AVIPE since 2004. Among the main functions are technical support in viticulture in the areas of integrated pest management and organic farming, irrigation and soil management. At AVIPE, develops applied research in the areas of plant and soil health, adaptation to climate change and microvinifications of lesser-known wine grape varieties. Since 2018 she participates in several European projects in the areas of circular economy, regenerative agriculture and digitalization. |

Miguel Cachão |
Miguel Cachão is an agronomic engineer and works in AVIPE since 2011. He has been involved in technical support to farmers in viticulture and, since 2018, is working in applied research and R&D projects. He has been involved in demonstration activities with farmers, local authoritites and stakeholders regarding soil, biodiversity, grapevine varieties, water usage, alternatives to pesticides, precision farming and other digitalization tools. He’s also dedicated to oenological trials and tastings. |

Sérgio Pinto is a viticulture technician at AVIPE. With a degree in Agronomy, he turned his special interest in viticulture and oenology into a career he wants to pursue for life. After college, he collected harvests from Lisbon to Douro. In 2021, he joined AVIPE where he became part of technical experts focused on helping farmers practice more sustainable viticulture. |

Dr. Dimitris Sarris is an Associate Professor and Deputy Head of the Department of Food Science and Nutrition, UA. He is an expert on food biotechnology and industrial fermentations, specifically on treatment and valorization of agro-industrial waste streams towards the production of bio-based, high-added value compounds within the framework of bioeconomy, circular economy, circular agriculture and sustainability. He has served as the coordinator of three Erasmus+ projects introducing and promoting the concepts of Circular agriculture and Green Growth. |

Efstathios Kaloudis |
Dr. Efstathios Kaloudis is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Food Science and Nutrition, UA. His main research interest is the development of computational models for the agri-food industry. In particular, computational fluid dynamics and data analysis applied to post-harvest grain quality, pest management methods (including fumigation and controlled atmosphere techniques), and sensory science (sentiment analysis of food-related social media posts, eye tracking). |

Dr. Eleni Naziri is an Assistant Professor in Food Biochemistry, in the Department of Food Science and Nutrition, UA. Her expertise includes the biotechnological production of functional lipids and value-added ingredients, their extraction with safe chemical means and the examination of their antioxidant and/or pro-oxidant activities. Her current research interests focuses on the valorization of agro-industrial by-products through the application of circular economy principles for the production of functional food products, as well as the incorporation of these by-products in the process optimization of novel fermented foods. |

Dr. Vasiliki (Sila) Bountziouka is an Assistant Professor of Biostatistics in the Department of Food Science and Nutrition, UA. Her expertise lies in the design and analysis of epidemiological and clinical studies, with a focus on dietary assessment, obesity prevention, and statistical modeling of health outcomes. Her current research interests include applying advanced statistical and digital methods to explore the role of diet and lifestyle behaviors in chronic disease prevention across the life course. |

Dr. Jaroslava Švarc-Gajić is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Technology, UNS, Department of Applied and Engineering Chemistry. Her current research focus is on exploration of different applications of sub- and supercritical water technologies for valorization of biowaste, and production of added-value compounds. Her expertise encompasses chemical characterization by using modern instrumental analytical tools, methods development, bioactivity assays, as well as the development of functional food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical products. She is experienced in the application of other green extraction approaches for isolation of natural bioactive compounds. |

Biljana Pajin |
Dr. Biljana Pajin is a Full Professor in the Food Engineering program at the Faculty of Technology, UNS, and Vice Rector for the science at UNS. At all three levels of study, she teaches courses related to confectionery and specialty fats for this industry, supervising a large number of theses at the undergraduate and master’s levels. Under her mentorship, five doctoral dissertations in the field of food engineering have been completed. She is also a co-author and author of several textbooks and practical guides. Independently or as a co-author, she has published 10 monographic publications and over 240 scientific and professional papers in (inter)national journals, as well as at scientific conferences. Her scientific work is evidenced by over 60 papers listed in the SCI database. |

Dr. Jaroslav Katona is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Technology Novi Sad, UNS, and serves as Serbian head of ‘Joint laboratory for Sustainable Agri-Food Engineering and Advance Biomaterials’. He obtained his PhD in technical sciences in 2010 from UNS, was the AGFA Discovery fellow at the Advanced Materials Research Center (Belgium, 2006-2007), and visiting researcher at Faculty of Chemistry, University of Antwerp (Belgium, 2011-2012). He was vice dean for finance at the Faculty of Technology of UNS (2018-2024), project manager in numerous corporate industry R&D projects, as well as (inter)national research projects. His research focuses on various domains of applied colloid chemistry including food science materials, food waste valorization, isolation and modification of biopolymers, edible films, encapsulation, sensors, functional printing, etc.. |

Nemanja Stanisavljevic |
Dr. Nemanja Stanisavljevic is a Full Professor and Head of the Department of Environmental Engineering at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, UNS. He obtained his PhD in 2013 in collaboration with TU Vienna. His research expertise includes waste management, material flow analysis, urban and environmental systems analysis, environmental impact assessment and the development of integrated waste to resource management models. As a Fulbright Visiting Scholar, he conducted postdoctoral research at North Carolina State University (USA). He has authored numerous national and international publications and projects, serves as Associate Editor of Waste Management & Research, and is a visiting professor at TU Vienna. |

Dr. Zita Šereš is a Dean of the Faculty of Technology, UNS. She is an expert in sugar technology, environmental protection in food industry, quality control in carbohydrate food technologies and waste products from carbohydrate food technologies. Her scientific expertise is a ground for long and solid cooperation with sugar, starch and bakery industries. Her research experience includes functional food formulation (bakery and confectionary products), valorization of waste from food industry, membrane separation in food industry, modification of sugar beet pulp as carriers of antioxidants in food and pharmaceutical industry. |

Dr. Katerina Zourou, Director of Web2learn, is a recognised researcher in the area of technology-enhanced education, focusing on open and social learning. She gives lectures at universities, including the Hellenic Open University, and the University of Grenoble Alpes. She is regularly invited to give talks or to participate in expert panels (European Commission, EU Joint Research Centre, EACEA, Council of Europe, European and Asian Universities, etc.). |

Her knowledge of the digital world is multifaceted and includes web development, social media marketing, and IT. Over the past she has served as a project assistant manager in several European projects funded under the Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps initiatives. |

Stefania Oikonomou specialises in community engagement and social participation in citizen science projects. She has acquired a BA in political science (2020) and an MA in political history (2022) from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece). Motivated to explore community engagement in citizen science, she was awarded a fellowship to attend the “Science Camp on community engagement in environmental research” organised by Earthwatch Europe in March 2023. |

Zacharoula Megagianni is a communications specialist and agronomist with a strong interest in sustainability, climate change, and inclusive science communication, combining her background in agricultural sciences with marketing, content creation, and public engagement. She has collaborated with NGOs, startups, and research initiatives, working in several topics from renewable energy and ESG reporting to nature-inclusive agriculture and health impacts of climate change. |
