Porto

Porto is the second city in Portugal and the biggest city of North-western Iberia. With a long history and strong traditions, it has a population of 220.000 in the city and 2.500.000 in the metro area. Porto is part of UNESCO World Heritage sites since 1996, it was the 2001 European Cultural Capital, and and was voted the best city to travel in Europe and a top world destination in 2012 and in 2014. This romantic and vibrant city is always full of life.The city is known for its bridges over the Douro river, the Port Wine, the excellent food and fantastic scenarios. Above all, the charm of its friendly and open-minded people makes it a special place to visit or to live in.

It is also where tradition meets innovation and where many of Portugal’s biggest business, industries and research centres are located. Porto is also the Portuguese academic capital: home of the biggest Polytechnic and University and main destination for foreign students.
