The FireBIM project, developed in partnership between the iBuilt team at ISEP and 22 partners from five countries (Netherlands, Belgium, Lithuania, Denmark, and Portugal), aims to harmonize and implement fire safety regulations of the participating countries in an open-source, web-based BIM platform. This platform will allow fire safety assessment, facilitating documentation and (inter)national compliance verification from the early stages of design.

With this approach, it will be possible to collectively interpret fire safety regulations and automatically verify building compliance with the applicable standards. As a result, design teams will be digitally assisted, enabling them to design safer, more efficient, and more cost-effective buildings.

The FireBIM methodology, currently under development, comprises the following main steps:

• Conversion of national regulations into knowledge graphs;
• Aggregation of the different national knowledge graphs into an international knowledge graph;
• Conversion of rules into SHACL (Shapes Constraint Language) to allow automatic compliance checking;
• Translation of SHACL rules into natural language, facilitating validation by fire safety experts.
